Losing track of the day, forgetting where a person is, or not remembering how to get to a familiar place can indicate cognitive impairment that warrants medical evaluation.
4. Problems performing routine tasks
Everyday activities such as preparing a familiar recipe, managing finances, or using familiar appliances can become increasingly complicated.
5. Changes in mood and personality
Dementia can cause irritability, anxiety, sadness, mistrust, or significant changes in behavior. Some people also become more withdrawn and avoid social gatherings.
6. Difficulty making decisions
Problems with planning, organizing activities, or solving simple situations may appear in the early stages of the disease.
7. Orientation problems
It is possible to get lost in familiar places or have difficulty following usual routes that were previously familiar.

Some people experience significant changes in their sleep patterns, such as sleeping during the day and staying awake at night. While this symptom can have many causes, when it occurs alongside other cognitive changes, it should be discussed with a doctor.

Following a long conversation, reading an article, or concentrating on a task may require much more effort than before.

In the initial stages, some people may take longer to identify familiar faces or correctly interpret everyday objects.
